The mission of this historical museum is to preserve and celebrate the art, culture and heritage of working class people in Canada. Located in the Historic Custom House in Hamilton, the Workers Arts and Heritage Centre was built in the spring of 1995. In addition to special exhibits throughout the calendar year, it has three main galleries that are full of information and historical perspectives.
The Main Gallery is entitled “All We Worked For: 100 Years of Canadian Workers History.” In the West Gallery is “Punching the Clock: Working in Canadian Factories from the 1840s to the 1980s” and the East Gallery’s exhibit is called “Gateway to the Workers City and Made in Hamilton Industrial Trail.” 51 Stuart Street is the address.
