This living history museum spans various time periods in over 30 historic buildings, plus a rare T.H & B. steam locomotive. Surrounded by 324 acres of unspoiled woods and meadows, this is a wonderful way to spend the day. Fan of Anne of Green Gables will know that much of the TV series was filmed here.
In fact, if you visit mid-September, make sure you check to see when “Anne of Green Gables Day” is going to be held at the village. You’ll be able to step into the pages of L.M. Montgomery’s masterpiece and become part of Avonlea and the life of Canada’s favorite literary character by enjoying a variety of entertaining activities for the whole family, including an Anne look-alike contest.
