The Cathedral of Christ the King was established in 1931 and was annonced by Bishop John McNally that this church will be the finest in all of Canada. In 1933, the Cathedral became the first ever dedicated church, it was dedicated to the King of Kings, Christ the Lord.
The church itself was built from limestone brought from Indiana and Georgetown, Ontario. It measures 235 feet long and 72 feet in width. Inside the tower are an astonishing 23 bells with the largest of the 23 donated by the Prime Minister of Canada. Also the Stations of the Cross were sculpted from a single block of Cararra marble, and there are 82 stained glass windows made in Munich
The Cathedral of Christ the King is located by the western entrance to the city of Hamilton. It stretches along King Street West and serves as a beacon bringing in parishioners, pilgrims and visitors from all over the world.
